Sue Shierson

Sue has more than 20 years’ experience, including to Board level, within large multi-national organisations. As a Human Resources Director she has worked across businesses, functions, multi-locations and cultures focusing on issues that relate to the high performance implementation and delivery of the business strategy. She has lived through and built first-hand experience of the challenges organisations, and in particular senior leaders, face as they adjust to the changing needs and demands of new environments, new stakeholders and new markets.

Since 2000 Sue has worked as a coach and facilitator, working with clients to improve their capability and effectiveness and to lead change. She brings intellect, curiosity, pragmatism and real challenge to the coaching process, whilst showing empathy, compassion, care and concern for her clients.  She strives to bring out the best in people, helping them develop practical, high impact interventions that support development for themselves and improvements for the performance of their organisation.

Her areas of focus include working with:

  • senior leaders who are facing significant challenges in their role – perhaps being confronted with leading significant organisational or personal change.
  • leaders and senior managers who have been appointed (or aspire to be appointed) to a step change different role; helping them to better understand themselves and the organisation in which they work and how to get things done.
  • individuals needing help to manage career transitions effectively.
  • capable people who want to better understand and leverage their strengths and preferences and manage their personal development in a way that increases their ‘total life’ effectiveness.

Sue has worked with a range of organisations from large multinationals to SMEs, mainly in the private sector (including Agrochemicals, Engineering, Manufacturing, Pharmaceuticals, Legal, Financial Services, IT, Chemicals, Biotech) but also in the UK National Health Service, academia and the voluntary sectors.

She has a B.Sc (Hons) from University College, London and is a highly experienced (and a licensed practitioner) in the use of a wide variety of individual diagnostic tools (including MBTI Step 1 &2, FIRO-B, Strong Interest Inventory, Wave selection & development tools).  Sue is an accredited coach with the European Mentoring and Coaching Council (Senior Practitioner Level) and an experienced and qualified coach supervisor. She is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development, a member of the Association for Coaching and an NLP practitioner.

I am convinced that if it was not for the coaching myself and the team had from Sue, there would not be a successful business unit operating today

Sue has a very intuitive style which can help get very rapidly to the heart of a key issue. I have developed from a competent but inexperienced manager to a strong, well-rounded leader and I credit Sue with taking me on that bumpy but highly successful journey

The bottom line –Sue provided me the opportunity to share strategies, thoughts and anxieties in a secure, non-threatening environment, has helped to shape better decisions/actions and helped me to draw ‘learning’ from each and every opportunity. Invaluable!
