John Chapman

John Chapman

John has worked as (in alphabetical order) coach, company secretary, consultant,
diplomat, facilitator, mediator, mentor, musician, radio presenter, restorative justice
practitioner, senior manager, trainer and trustee. He has lived and worked in Africa, Latin America, the Middle East, and South-Eastern Europe. His constant interest is people: how they relate to each other; live and work together, and understand and misunderstand each other.

Trained initially as a teacher, John was a British Council Officer for more than twenty years; ran a small consulting company for ten, and finished his salaried career with ten years at Salford City Council, working in neighbourhood regeneration and management.

Now he works freelance wherever he can usefully bring his knowledge and experience to bear.

An Associate Member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development; a Trained Member of the College of Mediators, and a trained listener, facilitator, coach and trainer, John's approach is very client-centred, creating and managing a process that supports and enables those directly involved to reach solutions that work for them.

John is skilled at clarifying what it is that people mean when they say something. He asks the right questions, in a calm and thoughtful way. Thus he helps people to avoid breakdown of communication due to misunderstanding. He is a great facilitator of communication.
